Software Localization
UI strings, help documentation, release notes, and in-app messaging localized for European language markets.
About this service
Software localization is different from document translation in a specific way: context is everything. A button label that works in English may overflow its container in German. An error message that is clear in Spanish may be ambiguous in French without knowing what preceded it in the user flow. Menu items must follow the HIG conventions of the target platform. We localize software for web applications, mobile apps, desktop software and SaaS platforms. We accept string files in PO, XLIFF, JSON, YAML and CSV formats. Where screenshots or reference files are available, we use them. Where they are not, we flag context questions before beginning rather than guessing. Our process includes a functional QA round where a second linguist reviews strings in context, not just as isolated text, checking for truncation issues, cultural appropriateness and consistency across the app. We cover EN, ES, FR, DE, PT, IT and NL for software projects. For ongoing product development we offer ongoing retainer arrangements with agreed SLAs for sprint-based updates.
